CNC machinist can calculate constant surface speed in imperial (english) units using this formula:

Sp = 0.262 * D * Sn;

where
Sp - cutting speed in feet per minute (ft/min),
D - diameter in inches (cutter diameter for milling or part diameter for turning),
Sn - CNC machine spindle speed, revolutions per minute (r/min).

To calculate the constant surface speed in feet per minute enter the CNC mill (lathe, drill) spindle speed in revolutions per minute and diameter in inches and click the CALCULATE button.

The program will calculate the cutting speed in feet per minute.
